Application Process:

After submitting this electronic application the membership secretary will review and confirm payment of dues, after it is reviewed the applicant will be presented at the next company meeting. Company meetings are the first Tuesday of every month at 7pm. The application and all of its components including the background checks and membership dues must be turned in to be presented. After being presented, the application will remain in the same status until the next company meeting allowing time for investigation. At the next company meeting the applicant will be voted on. The voting is anonymous majority vote. After the results of the vote the membership secretary will reach out to the applicant. The applicant, if voted in, will then be assigned a mentor to assist the new member to learning the company's rules, facilities, apparatus, equipment, and membership. Active firefighter applicant will also receive a rookie book that their mentor will help them through for completion. The membership application status will be electronically updated throughout the process by the membership secretary. For junior members, the minimum age of membership is 14. Applicants ages 14 and 15 must also have a parent apply. Ages 16 and 17 do not need a parent to apply. All junior applicants do not need to submit a child abuse clearance or membership dues.

Types of membership:

-Active firefighter; this includes those already certified as an interior firefighter or wishing to be and those interested in EMS. These applicants are those interested in getting on fire trucks and running calls.

-Administrative; these applicants are not necessarily wanting to get onto the trucks and running calls. Positions included here are President, Vice President, Secretary, Membership Secretary, Treasurer, and 3 Trustee Positions. These positions are voted on at the end of each year for the upcoming year. New members are encouraged to join, shadow, and help the member currently holding the position they have interest in. There are also various committees that work on multiple different projects that can be big or small.

Auxiliary/Social; these members help out with various events such as open house, fire prevention, community outreach and many others. This is a perfect spot for people who may not have much free time from their personal or professional lives and don't want to run fire calls.

Anyone interested in joining is encouraged to come observe a company training that is held every Monday at 7pm. This gives people wishing to apply the chance to observe the culture, membership, facilities, apparatus, and equipment. These are open to anyone wishing to join and can just come up and introduce yourself; we will be happy to show you around and introduce you.

Membership Due
Membership Due Submitted?: A membership due of $5 is required with the application. Applicants can pay their due to the Fire Company's Venmo @PoMarLin-FireCompany - In the notes of the transaction include "Membership Application Dues" and Last name. If you do not have venmo and do not want to utilize the app, the membership due can be submitted in person. If you select in person the membership secretary will be in contact in order to obtain the membership dues. Po-Mar-Lin Further Right to Investigation
Date of Application: Having made application for membership with the Po-Mar-Lin Fire Department and desiring that they be informed of my previous records and character, I hereby authorize any further investigation into all records which may be of interest to them. This authorization includes, but is not limited to medical, hospital, school, credit records, driver’s license check, Megan’s Law and criminal background check whether privileged or not. This authorization to furnish information is executed in consideration of the Po-Mar-Lin Fire Department giving my application consideration and shall serve as a release of all liability to all parties furnishing such information to the Po-Mar-Lin Fire Department.
